With over 25 years of experience in both teaching and research, Bashir Ahmed is a professor at Jahangirnagar University’s department of government and politics. He has already made scholarly contributions in the disciplines of governance, corruption, and parliamentary effectiveness. Along with his academic career as a teacher, he has also played a significant role in parliamentary studies, impact assessments, anti-corruption commissions, and the capacity building of government institutions. These initiatives have been supported by USAID, UNDP, DIFD, and other organizations. As a visiting scholar in 2014 and 2022, Professor Ahmed was associated with the Center for Conflict Studies in the USA and the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies at the City University of New York. He has authored several publications on development, forced migration, South Asian politics, and governance, democracy, and corruption. At Jahangirnagar University, Professor Ahmed served as Dean of the Law Faculty. He was the Director of TSC, the Chairman of the Department of Government and Politics, and the Provost of Sheikh Hasina Hall. He received his education at the Universities of Heidelberg (Germany) and Lund (Sweden) respectively. The Daily Independent and the Financial Express frequently publish Prof. Ahmed’s annotated analytical commentary on new subjects. Bashir Ahmed regularly takes part in talk shows on electronic media.

Bashir Ahmed was born on the 30th of November, 1970 in the village of Sagardi, P.O: Madhabdi, Narsingdi District.
